McKINNEY, TX (June 18, 2010) – MedAct Software, the leader in HME/DMEPOS business solutions, announced today the latest release of MedAct 5.1 PECOS edition for the HME industry. The MedAct 5.1 PECOS edition helps HME/DME Prosthetics, Orthotics and Sleep Study businesses comply with the new Provider Enrollment and Chain Ownership System (PECOS) on July 6, 2010. Now DMEPOS providers will be able to use the PECOS system to manage enrollment for their business beginning in July 6th per CMS officials.

Instead of mailing CMS-855 paper forms, HME/DMEPOS providers will be able to use the PECOS online system to enroll, complete re-enrollment process, and track the status of an application submitted. According to CMS, on July 5th, all active DMEPOS provider data from the National Supplier Clearinghouse will be transferred to PECOS.

What MedAct now offers is an easy way for HME/DMEPOS to be compliant now with the upcoming January 3, 2011 deadline to ensure that all their referring physicians and healthcare providers are enrolled in PECOS in order to prevent claims being denied. Some of the new functionality enables MedAct users to find and confirm existing physician enrollment in PECOS; the ability to automatically verify enrollment of new physicians added with PECOS Physician Enrollment Alert; and the PECOS letter option to send to healthcare providers.
